Town of Halton Hills has designated cooling centres throughout Halton Hills for relief. The amendment to By-law 2007-0083 is to add an exemption for existing industrial structures. The Development Charges Act, 1997 provides a mandatory exemption for the expansion to an existing industrial structure of 50% or less of the existing gross floor area. The proposed amendment will provide an additional exemption for industrial structures that have been in operation for greater than 5 years to allow 100% of an expansion to be exempt. Town Council is required under The Development Charges Act, 1997, to hold at least one public meeting to allow the public the opportunity to review and provide comments on the staff reports, and the proposed amendment to the Development Charges By-law.
