The office will be located at 324 Guelph St, and will replace the Driver and Vehicle Licence Issuing Office on Main St. S., which will close its doors July 29. The new office will be run by Georgetown residents Lori and Alex Soler and Alex's father Manuel Soler. Alex Soler said the family has been operating licensing offices since 1989. They operate offices in Willowdale, Thornhill, Kanata, Woodstock and Burlington and their company, Soler D & V Licensing, was awarded the contract in April to run the office in Georgetown. Soler said the ServiceOntario office will provide all licensing services, along with other services such as having a commissioner of oaths on site to complete affidavits. He said that would save people from having to go to a lawyer's office or the town office. It will also have on sale all official driving handbooks including those for trucks and buses. The office will be open expanded hours; Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Likely in two to three months, Soler said, health card renewal will be offered at the ServiceOntario location in Georgetown. He was hoping to offer health card renewal on opening, however, training wasn't available for the employees. "We were very excited when we ended up winning the contract," said Soler. "We are very involved in the community," adding they have already sponsored a select hockey team.
