The Essence of Colour, located at 369 Mountainview Road South, is an independent paint retailer that exclusively sells Benjamin Moore paints, primers, stains and wood finishes. Store owner Andy Kazmi has been serving the area since 2007 from the business's original location in Brampton. Business was booming, so Kazmi opened another location in Georgetown South in mid-May to better serve his Halton Hills clients. "There is a lot of development going on (in Halton Hills) with new houses, subdivisions, malls and shopping plazas. Residential, architectural, commercial: we have paint for all these areas," says Kazmi, who has 18 years of experience in the industry. The Essence of Colour stocks a range of Benjamin Moore products, including Aura, a high-performance paint with a colour-lock technology that resists fading; Arborcoat, an exterior stain that offers UV protection and mildew resistance; and Natura, an environmentallyfriendly, zero-VOC paint that is virtually odourless. In addition to paints and stains, The Essence of Colour also offers in-home colour consultations where the store's experienced staff visit customers in their homes to help them pick colours based on the furnishings, accessories and other colours already in the space. The store specializes in custom matching, meaning the staff can take a sample of hardwood flooring, for example, and find a matching stain to use on stairs, banisters and spindles.
