Dad's got the moves By CYNTHIA GAMBLE Staff Writer Town staff will have some extra work to do in this election year when preparing the 2011 budget. At the kick-off of the 2011 budget preparations Monday night, Halton Hills council voted to add an additional amendment directing financial staff to prepare budget scenarios with 6, 5, 4 and 3 per cent increases. That's to go along with the already 7.1 per cent operating budget increase proposed by Town staff. Town Treasurer Ed DeSousa presented a preliminary budget projecting a $30.1 million operating budget that included a 7.1 per cent increase (or $25 per $100,000 of home assessment). The Town's lowest assessment growth in 10 years and plans to build at least three ice surfaces in the next four years factored into the math, said DeSousa.
