YOU AND YOUR PET Hunter is a large tricolour, young male hound, approximately two years old, 63 lbs, medium energy except when excited to see you, is leash trained but can be a "I'll walk you dog" if there are too many interesting scents to sniff at. Hunter is incredibly handsome, wonderful markings and exudes a zest for life especially when exercising outside. Hunter like all hounds is a vocal boy and needs an adult family or one with children over the age of 10 years. Hunter needs com- 19 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, September 9, 2010 Hunter is still in the hunt for a family pany and cannot be left alone for seven hours a day. He has his basics, loved his crate in his foster home, good with other dogs (inclined to chase cats). A new home with a companion animal might suit him superbly as he is much calmer and quieter in the presence of a canine buddy. However, people appear to be his favourite thing in the whole world these days as they represent hugs, food and treats and with patience and a soft hand, Hunter will be an awesome addition to any family. Hunter must have a secure fenced yard, as hounds follow their noses and can get lost before realizing they're missing a family. He will always need to be on leash when not in a secured area for the same reasons. Hounds don't recall when there is something more interesting to smell or look at or chase. Hunter is longing for a new family and hopes you will come soon... call 519-833-2287 or email adoptions@uppercredit.com HUNTER All Stories By JUDITH-ANNE KOLU Upper Credit Humane Society volunteer Shelter: www.uppercredit.com - adoptions@uppercredit.com Life with Harley would be a great ride! Life with friendly, exuberant Harley would be a thrill ride indeed. Harley is a 17-month GSD/ Husky male, 73 lbs, black and white with one pale blue eye, one dark brown. Harley's baHARLEY sic nature is one that is eager to please, he knows some commands, but will require training and a strong leader. Harley, like a lot of young guys, can get distracted from the task at hand. Intelligent Harley learns quickly and with some gentle guidance and stability in a loving home, we feel he would prove to be a welcome addition. Harley would enjoy an energetic family who like to be active, playtime, long walks or light jogs would help Harley burn off his energy. This sweet little man came to us from another rescue and seems to get along with dogs but cats would need to be assertive in nature. This smart boy will listen and likes being good. Positive reinforcement works very well Another happy customer . . . After just four 1 hour sessions with Tom, Millie mingles freely with other dogs as evident by her behaviour in the local dog park. She is quite comfortable in crowds and is very relaxed in situations like the Georgetown Farmer's Market. She is well behaved on her leash and no longer tugs or over-reacts to dogs or people she meets. Thanks Tom for a job well done. Sincerely, Gillian & Alf Fleur is a sweet little flower Fleur is very special and so aptly named; an extremely pretty long-haired grey tabby who arrived at the Shelter in March this year. Delicate and beautiful in appearance with a serene nature to match, Fleur is everything you would want in a lady. Fleur presents as a very sweet, very friendly girl, gets along with other quiet refined felines and loves relaxing and observing the comings and goings of the multiple cat room. Fleur would do well in a quiet home with another gentle cat; a relaxed adult only home or one with sensible older children who would recognize her quiet needs would suit Fleur the best. Scurrying busy preschoolers would be too much for her gentle nature. Nonetheless, Fleur is a confident girl and greeted the writer warmly rubbing around my legs and eagerly accepting soft spoken words and gentle loves. with him. Harley would be a good second dog addition and would find emulating a companion who already knows the ropes most helpful. Harley needs a fully fenced yard to curtail any unexpected explorations of the wild blue yonder. Harley has been at the Shelter for over two months and this young man is going crazy with boredom and some of his excitable behaviour is nothing more than pent-up energy waiting to be released. Harley lived with older children in his first home but we feel would not be suitable for children under eight years old. Just like a biker, with practice, Harley will learn to master his motorcycle and be an easy rider, he just needs a family who will delight in helping him reach his potential. Call the Shelter at 519-8332287 to arrange to meet Harley or email adoptions@uppercredit.com FLEUR Fleur enjoys sunbathing and keeps herself well groomed but would need a family who would enjoy giving her regular brushings to enhance her efforts. Fleur is so deserving of happiness and even though she is gorgeous, she is not conceited and does not display any "diva" attitude. Our little "flower child" is patiently waiting for her permanent home. We hope you will hear her "purr" and come to meet her.
