Police blotter 5 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, September 9, 2010 Woman faces assault charges for brandishing hockey stick while two dozen watch brawl A Georgetown woman faces assault charges stemming from a couple of incidents in early August in which a hockey stick was used to attack three teens. Halton Regional Police received a complaint that approximately 25 people were gathered to watch a fight between two women in the area around Christ the King Secondary School just after midnight on Aug. 6. A 16-year-old female victim was allegedly beaten with a hockey stick several times and shortly after a 16-yearold female and 17-year-old male were was attacked by the same suspect near the McDonald's Restaurant on Guelph St. As a result of an investigation, Lisa Zawicki, 29, was charged with two counts of assault with a weapon and one count of assault. ··· Police responded to a pair of breakand-enters in Georgetown South that occurred during the afternoon hours last Friday. In both instances, entry to the homes was gained by breaking down the front door. Residents of a Snowberry Cres. address returned home around the dinner hour to find the front door open and that thieves had taken about $5,000 worth of items, including a piece of jewelry valued at about $4,000. It appears as though another theft at a residence on Ballantine Dr. was interrupted in progress as the culprits exited through a back door without taking anything, although several possessions were stacked in the front lobby of the home. ··· An $800 Haro BMX bike was stolen from the back yard of a Prince Charles Dr. home sometime late last Thursday or early Friday. ··· A Sirius Satellite radio was stolen from a 2007 Mazda at an Ontario St. residence sometime late Monday (Aug. 30) or early Tuesday (Aug. 31).
