One of those was 11-year-old Jacob Calvert of Georgetown, an amputee of both legs, who has always been inspired by Terry Fox. Although he has participated in school Runs through the years, he walked the 4.5 km in his first official Georgetown Terry Fox Run with his mom Sarah on Sunday. In Acton, the 30th anniversary of the Terry Fox Run was acknowledged with the presentation of 30-year participant plaques to three dedicated people, George Henderson, Doris Ella and Lloyd Smallwood. Acton Citizen of the Year Ivan Kilby cut the ribbon to open the event at the Acton High School, helped out by newly-crowned Miss Acton Fair Robin Dercatch with first runner-up Jennifer Stirtzinger and second runner-up Janice Chapman, who then took their turn around the track.
