Against the IceHawks at Alcott Arena Saturday, the Raiders stormed out to a 4-0 first period lead en route to a 12-1 romp as the home side outshot Milton 59-15. Justin Basso and Sebastian Klich each fired three goals for Georgetown while Evan Rodrigues tallied twice. Singles went to Patrick Megannety, Travis Fulton, Tyler Shiplo and Ralph Cuddemi. Georgetown was 5-for-7 on the power play. Friday in Orangeville against the Flyers, the Raiders scored twice in each period and outshot the home side 51-25 in posting a 6-2 victory. Megannety, Jordan Reed, Duston Hebebrand, Scott Wilson, Rodrigues and Kyle Camilleri found the net for the Raiders, who extended their winning streak to five games. The Raiders will be busy over the Thanksgiving weekend as they visit Oakville Friday then take part in a showcase tournament in Aurora with matches that count in the league standings. Photo by Mike Maloney High school roundup CtK's Spencer off to OFSAA Samantha Spencer of CtK is headed for the Ontario high school golf championships after a tournament-low round of 75 last week at the Halton association's second and final event of the season at Hidden Lake Golf Club in Burlington. The Grade 9 student recovered from a round of 90 on day one at Piper's Heath to finish second behind Nelson's Jenna Hague, who had a 36-hole total of 155. Spencer is among seven girls who qualified for the OFSAA tourney Oct. 13-14 in Richmond Hill. On the boys' side, Georgetown's Jamison Cass was nosed out by one stroke for a trip to OFSAA after he recorded rounds of 76-75 to finish fourth out of 29 players at the Halton championships. Rebel teammate Jeff Beedham was ninth at 157. Georgetown's senior Rebels nearly got their first win of the season Friday, falling short 1714 to the host Loyola Hawks. Mack Morrison scored both Rebel touchdowns. The senior Rebels will play their first-ever game on the new Kiwanis Field facility this Wednesday against the 2-0 Nelson Lords beginning at 4:30 p.m. An official opening ceremony for the field will take place Oct. 29 against Bishop Reding. Christ the King's seniors lost their opening contest to Iroquois Ridge 21-14 last week and are set to host Robert Bateman today (Tuesday) at 3 p.m. at the Gellert Recreation Centre. In junior action, Christ the King's Jags improved to 2-0 with a 44-6 triumph in Oakville over Iroquois Ridge last week in Tier 3 action. Hayden Gaskell-Cadwallader scored two touchdowns for CtK, with Khalil Smith, Skylar Swartz, Tudor Bertien and Parker Mellott also getting in for major scores. In week one, the junior Jags routed Aldershot 33-13 led by Smith's pair of TDs. A 10-point effort by Jenn Baker wasn't enough as the Acton senior Bearcats lost 32-27 to King's Christian last week in league play. Football Under-8 Mustangs win Cup tourney The Georgetown Mustangs finished fifth in the Peel Halton District's under-8 Premier Division standings and saved their best for the South Region Soccer League Cup tournament in Caledon, capturing the Premier/First championship. Quarterfinal-- Georgetown 4, Erin Mills Gold 4 (Georgetown won 2-1 in shootout): Joey Dagastino, Mathew Higgins (2G). Semifinal-- Georgetown 1, Brampton Blast 0: Ethan Loginov (G). Championship-- Georgetown 5, Mississauga Blue 3: Samuel Myre (2G); Dagastino, Jackson Behm, Benjamin Dewmyn (G). A 5-3 victory over Mississauga Blue clinched the South Region Soccer League's Premier/First Division League Cup title for the Georgetown under-8 boys' Mustangs.
