8 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday,November 16, 2010 Tooth Chatter Legion Ladies Auxiliary initiates new members By JANET MALLOY Georgetown Legion Ladies Auxiliary A very warm welcome to our newest members who were initiated at our September meeting: Ines Pasimino and Rosemary Harrison. Welcome aboard ladies! Our regular Ladies Auxiliary General Meeting is on Thursday, Nov. 18 at 8 p.m. We will have our Zone Commander and Deputy Zone Commander there as they are checking our books. It would be great to have as many of you out that evening. We will be setting up in the afternoon after 1 p.m. for our Christmas Bazaar on Friday, Nov. 19 so anyone interested in coming down to help, it would be appreciated! See you all on Saturday, Nov. 20 at our Christmas Bazaar from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. to do your Christmas shopping to buy that perfect gift for Uncle Fred or Aunt Ethel. Thinking of our Comrades who are under the weather/and or shut-ins, please know we think of you often. DENTURE MISHAPS! Finally, I just couldn't leave out one of the most popular ways to loose your dentures. Whether they've indulged the night before with too many alcoholic beverages, or they just plain catch a flu bug and the old stomach just can't take it anymore, those poor plates end up in the toilets! That's right, the toilet! People desperately grabbing for them as the suction of the water swiftly hurls them into the sewer. So that's why those Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have such perfect smiles! I must warm all your denture wearers now: Denture breakage, or loss, almost always happens at the most inopportune times, such as the Christmas holidays. So if you're travelling, don't pack them in your luggage; if the luggage gets lost so do your dentures! And if they fall out in your soup, very discreetly fish them out! Or while hitting those high notes while singing those X-mas carols, and you find your dentures in your song book, just hope the others have had one too many eggnogs and didn't notice! And if Aunt Emma's turkey just isn't as tender as it used to be, prevent breakage; soak your meat in gravy! And remember, even Old Saint Nick himself has mishaps with dentures now and again. If his dentures break, then "Santa Claus is gumming to town!" Creating confident smiles since 1982.
