That could be one way to describe the Christ the King Jaguars' victory over Iroquois Ridge in Wednesday's Halton junior football Division III final at Hamilton's McMaster University. But Gaskell-Cadwallader, who scored all the Jaguars' points by running for three touchdowns and booting three converts, was quick to share the credit after helping Christ the King complete its first undefeated football season in school history. "It's all the (offensive) line. They worked hard all season, this game especially, and came up big when they needed to," said the 15-year-old Grade 10 student. "That's why I had the success." The Jags' defence also rose to the occasion, forcing four first-half turnovers to shut down the Ridge attack. The Trailblazers didn't get on the scoreboard until a Taylor Kurc 23-yard touchdown run with 3:56 left in regulation. But it was Gaskell-Cadwallader who made the biggest impact in the contest. He opened the scoring in the first quarter with a well-blocked 23-yard TD run down the right side of the field, then added 31- and 72-yard scampers for majors PURCHASE FINANCING Eric Putnins (31) of the Christ the King Jaguars tries to elude an Iroquois Ridge Trailblazers' tackler during the Jags' 21-6 win in Wednesday's Halton junior football Division III at McMaster University. Eric Riehl/Metroland Media Group Raiders annihilate Chargers 11-2 The Georgetown Raiders spotted the Missississauga Charges a 1-0 lead less than five minutes into their Ontario Jr. A Hockey League game Tuesday in Mississauga. That was as good as it got for the Chargers. The Raiders stretched their current win streak to four games with an 11-2 win over the hapless Chargers, winners of only four games this season. Both teams fired 34 shots on goal-- but onethird of Georgetown's went in while Raider goalie Michael Stilladis stopped 32. Justin Basso led the Raiders with a four-goal night while Josh Burnell and Michael Capicotto each had one marker and four assists. Patrick Megannety had a goal and two helpers with Scott Wilson and Matt Chiaranto netting a goal and an assist each. Mike Charbonneau and Anthony Cortellessa had the other goals while Duston Hebebrand collected three assists. Tyler Shiplo and Alex Lubczuk had two each and Tyler McCarthy added one. The Raiders host the Oakville Blades Saturday at Alcott Arena at 7:30 p.m. before visiting Aurora Sunday at 2 p.m. OR in the second quarter. "He's the workhorse," said Jaguars' coach Greg Mayberry. "You give it to your stars and let them run the ball. He runs with authority." Ridge coach Mike Luyks said he prepared his team for the power running of GaskellCadwallader, but the Trailblazers still couldn't stop him. "He's a big, tough runner. He's a great player," Luyks said. "We didn't tackle as well as we could have in the first half." Wednesday's victory in the Halton final also meant the Jaguars concluded the season with a 9-0 record, a dramatic turnaround from the 0-6 campaign they suffered through last year. "We had eight returning players from last year's team. A lot of Grade 10 athletes came out," said Mayberry, highlighting Justin Walker, Khalil Smith, Tyler Zapparoli and Patrick Gough as four key additions. "It was unbelievable the way the guys came together." Ryan Noakes and Ryan Moffatt recovered fumbles for Christ the King in the first half, while Tudor Bertien and Gough pulled down interceptions. The Jaguars also stopped Ridge on fourth-and-one early in the second quarter, shortly before Gaskell-Cadwallader's second touchdown of the game.
