Montgomery Christmas on Saturday Celebrate Montgomery Christmas on Saturday (Nov. 27) in the historic hamlet of Norval. The annual celebration focuses on the famed Canadian author Lucy Maud Montgomery (LMM) who wrote Anne of Green Gables and lived in the hamlet with her husband Rev Ewan Macdonald, the Presbyterian Church minister, from 1926 to 1935. Experience the charm of old fashioned country church bazaars located at the Norval Presbyterian, United and Anglican Churches, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come for lunch, enjoy bake tables laden with Christmas goodies, preserves, white elephant table, crafts, and raffles and afternoon tea. Around the village, the Norval United Church brass band will entertain visitors with songs of the season. Visit the Lucy Maud Montgomery Museum located at Crawford's Village Bakeshop, and enjoy some LMM Christmas cake made from `Aunt Maud's' own recipe. From 1:30-3 p.m. LMM authors will sign their books: Professor Benjamin Lefebvre, co-editor of The Blythes are Quoted and Donna Campbell, co-editor of Una of the Garden by LMM. Also visit with Jack and Linda Hutton from Bala Museum and shop at their gift show. Local historian Deb Quaile will showcase her tour of Norval through photographs.
