More www.independentfreepress.com ATHLETES of the week Acton High School Christ the King G.D.H.S Justin Gardipy Nicole Merritt Haydn Gaskill-Cadwallader Mackenzie Rees Caitlyn Dunsmore Jeff Scott Acton High School Athletes of the Week are Nicole Merritt and Justin Gardipy. Both are members of the Bearcats' swim team, and competed at a meet at White Oaks in Oakville. Merritt competed strongly in the 50-metre freestyle with a 31.04 time, while Gardipy did his personal best of 32 seconds for the 50-metre free. Christ the King Catholic High School Athletes of the Week are Haydn GaskillCadwallader and Mackenzie Rees. Gaskill-Cadwallader, a running back on the Jaguars' junior football team, was selected for his three TDs against Iroquois Ridge in a 21-6 win. Rees, who plays defense on the Jaguars' girls hockey team, was chosen for her strong defense at an Oakville tournament. Georgetown District High School Athletes of the Week are Caitlyn Dunsmore and Jeff Scott. Dunsmore, who plays defense on the Rebels' girls' hockey team, was chosen for her two goals against LBP. Scott, a power on the Rebels' senior boys' volleyball team, was cited for his strong showing against Cathedral High School, with lots of kills and blocks.
