12 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday,December 7, 2010 A MOVEMBER TO REMEMBER Because of you we raised $1,318 Georgetown Children's Chorus offers a Ticket to Christmas By LOIS FRASER Georgetown Children's Chorus The Georgetown Children's Chorus would like to invite you to a rock musical called Ticket to Christmas, which is playing four shows at the John Elliott Theatre on Saturday, Dec. 11 (two shows at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.) and Sunday, Dec. 12 (two shows at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.). The music is upbeat and fun. The Children's Chorus performed this show in 1993 and again in 1997 and it was a sell-out both times. Characters ride scooters and skateboards, angels and shepherds appear, along with Simeon, Isaiah, Gabriel and a hip Jamaican. This combination of characters helps a tough 12-year-old, who thinks Christmas is all about toys, make a discovery. The show was written for kids and the performers are between the ages of 7 and 14. The show appeals to kids, age five and up, but adults will love it too. Each show begins with choral performances by the Senior Choir and Cherub Choir. Then the dramatic portion of the show begins, with a cast of 50 kids, complete with costumes, props, lighting and sound effects to tell the Christmas story.
