The award was presented to Eric as Executive Director of Healing Hands for Haiti International for the organization's work in Haiti prior to and since the earthquake of January 12, 2010. Healing Hands for Haiti delivers physical medicine and rehabilitation services to the more than 800,000 adults and children living with disabilities in Haiti. Its facilities were almost completely destroyed in the earthquake. Since the earthquake HHHI has deployed more than 300 medical volunteers from across North America (including new International Board member, Karen McKenzie-Stepner, Halton Hills Speech Centre. Targeting the so-called "long-tail" of consumer demand, Georgetown's POD service will allow publishers to minimize warehousing costs while keeping low-demand titles in print, says director of business development Hank Visser. The service i ideally suited to ultra-short runs of one to five copies, and print runs of up to roughly 1,000 copies, though Visser says larger print runs of several thousand copies are also feasible.
