Brampton Brick files OMB appeal for Norval Quarry application By LISA TALLYN Staff Writer Brampton Brick has filed an appeal with the Ontario Municipal Board on its Norval Quarry application. The company is appealing the City of Brampton's zoning bylaw as it pertains to the quarry property located on the east side of Winston Churchill Blvd. north of Norval. The zoning amendment is required to allow for mineral aggregate extraction on the property and was filed with the City of Brampton in Dec. 2008. Brad Cobbledick of Brampton Brick said the company "had no choice" in appealing to the OMB as the City of Brampton failed to make a decision on the rezoning, having 120 days to make it. The appeal was filed last Wednesday. Norval Pit-STOP, a community organization that represents local residents in Brampton & Halton Hills opposed to the proposed Norval Shale Quarry, said in a recent release that 1,220 people signed letters of objection to the Norval Quarry license application that were submitted to the MNR during a recent public notification period. Cobbledick said the company is also notified of the number of objections and agreed with that number. "It's part of the process," said Cobbledick of the objections.
