If you missed it, not to worry, I have booked Mysteriously Yours for another performance in January 2012. December 31 has passed and with its passing your 2010 membership cards are no longer valid. It also means that if you wish to continue to access Drop In or Active Living Programs you must have a 2011 membership card to present to the attendant on the Reception Desk if asked. Monday, February 14 we are having our Annual Valentine's Tea. There will be some brain testing games, a skit by our Drama Club, and surprise refreshments. You may purchase your $3 ticket at Reception. We have started our $2.50 soup, crackers tea/coffee Thursday lunch. A variety of soups are being served. On Tuesdays, Links2Care will be at the Centre with frozen meals for sale. This is a great convenience, for you will be able to make your purchases at that time and look forward to a supper you just need to nuke. For those wishing to trace their ancestry back in time, a six-week course is being offered at our Centre starting Friday, March 4 through April 11th. Each session runs from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Cost is $20 and will cover hand outs and photocopied materials. Please sign up at the Reception Desk by Feb. 25. Mark March 1 on your calendar as the date of out AGM. Prior to the meeting sandwiches will be available for purchase and Room 11 will be set up for the lunch room. If you wish to have a vote, please bring your membership card to the desk to receive your materials for the AGM. Acton Seniors Centre Recreation Centre's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 1:30 p.m. in the Acton Community Hall. It's important that all members attend so they can give their input to the various items on the agenda. There will be four vacant positions on the board: four names have been nominated for the positions of vice-president, and fundraising chair, membership chair and travel chair. If you would like to nominate someone or have your name considered for a position please call our nominating committee members Margaret Anderson or Donna Rowley. On a sad note another of our longtime members Nettie Field, passed away recently. She loved the social dinners and would sing at the drop of a hat. When I hear someone singing Hello Dolly, I think of her dressed in her pink dress and garter belting it out. She will be missed by her Friday lunch friends as she always attended the lunch and stayed for the bingo. By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre In February the movie matinees will be every other Tuesday starting on February 8 at 1 p.m. The movie will be a romantic comedy, Valentine's Day. Twenty-two members who celebrated birthdays in either December or January and their guests braved the threat of freezing rain and snow to attend the Birthday Tea on Jan. 18. Over 100 members and guests attended the belated New Year Dinner and Dance on Monday, Jan. 17. I am still hearing what a great time everyone had dancing or listening to Ron and Betty Neilson (aka Juke Box). The Swiss Chalet dinner was excellent. Anna Arnold won the 50/50 and took home $118. Door prizes were Mahrukh Bapooji, Barb Weldon, Trina Noel, Arline Coultrup, Mary Ann Peteros, Steve Townsley, Harry Van Der Heyden, Betty Holmes, Marg Bromby, Paola Dzieciol and Bob Bruce.
