Photo by Ted Brown Independent & Free Press, Thursday, February 3, 2011 Fernbrook saves energy, cash Fernbrook Springs recently took an energy conservation leadership role in the community and completed two ERIP applications with Halton Hills Hydro in cooperation with the Ontario Power Authority (OPA) that qualified them for a combined rebate of $54,144. Fernbrook Springs has replaced 400W Metal Halide high-bay light fixtures with new energy-efficient T8 fluorescent fixtures, installed occupancy sensors throughout the warehouse and manufacturing areas and installed a rotary screw air compressor. The initiatives undertaken by Fernbrook Springs have resulted in an electricity demand reduction of 89.3 kW, which results in energy cost savings for Fernbrook Springs. Halton Hills Hydro in co-operation with the OPA is assisting Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional and Agricultural customers to conserve energy. The Electricity Retrofit Incentive Program focuses on the areas of lighting, motors, heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and the overall electricity systems.
