Acton Scouts and Guides to celebrate centenary on Sunday All fellow Scouts, Cubs, Beavers, Venturers, Guides, Brownies, Sparks, Pathfinders, Leaders and friends of Acton Scouting are invited to a very special celebration of 100 years of Scouting in Acton and 100 years of Guiding in Canada. This event, on Sunday, Feb. 20, will kick off Baden-Powell Week and Scouts and Guides and supporters young and old will gather. Former and current members of 1st, 2nd and 3rd Acton Scouting are encouraged to attend. The public is invited to take part in any or all of the day's activities from the Formal Parade, to the Scouts Own Service, to the casual reunion at the Town Hall. Bring your photos, badges, campfire blankets to show. There is a stage for skits, songs and memories! On sale there will be 100th Anniversary of 1st Acton Scouting T-shirts, badges, photo CDs, popcorn and cookies. The lunch at the Town Hall will be a feast of chili (including a vegetarian version), buns, hot dogs and dessert. The day begins at 9:30 a.m. when a Parade forms at Acton Scout Hall, 11 School Lane. At 10 a.m. the Parade marches to Trinity United Church, 70 Mill St. E., where a service begins at 10:30 a.m. At 11:30 a.m. a mini sidewalk parade leads the way to the Acton Town Hall Centre, 19 Willow St. N. where a meet and greet and eat with displays, activities, badge swap and more begins at 12 p.m. Proceeds and donations made at this event will go directly to the desperatelyneeded new roof at the Scout Hall.
