Bring your old gold to friends you know and trust. We'll use it to help create unforgettable jewellery. And new memories for you and those you love. Reuse. Recycle. Rejoice. Senior library staffers Supervisor and Children Specialist Marie Vickery (left) and Acton Branch Supervisor Debra Bruton share a light moment as the books are being stacked on the shelves of the new Acton Library. The move saw the 27,017 books boxed at the old library, then tranferred on dollies over to the new building where they were once again placed on the shelves. Photo by Ted Brown New Acton library is open for business By LISA TALLYN Staff Writer The new Acton Library was a hub of activity Tuesday with area residents eagerly dropping by to check out the new 7,800 sq. ft. building that opened its doors to the public for the first time. "There are lots of kids, adults and seniors," said Halton Hills Library manager of Public Services Geoff Cannon. "They are thoroughly enjoying it." But the official community opening for the library is set for 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday with a ribbon cutting, cake, refreshments and children's entertainers. Cannon said the move from the old building into the new one went off without a hitch, and was done in two days by a moving company-- the same one hired to move the Georgetown Library in April into its temporary digs at the former Holy Cross Church. Cannon said since the old shelving wasn't moved out of the old library into the new building the books and other items were boxed and brought across to the new library.
