In addition to working directly with patients on the units and outpatient programs, they also support many nonpatient care services including the information desk and south greeter as well as fundraising through the gift shop, coffee kiosk, HELPP Lottery, raffles and special events. "The Georgetown Hospital Volunteer Association's (GHVA) mission is to raise funds for the hospital and to provide care, comfort and services to patients, visitors, family and staff," said Marie Carney, GHVA President. "So when Halton Healthcare Services approached the GHVA for funds to help offset the costs of a CT Scanner and re-development plans to the Emergency and Diagnostic Imaging departments at the hospital, there was no doubt in our minds that we would help." "The GHVA has really stepped up to the plate to help with our expansion plans," said Cindy McDonell, Georgetown Hospital Chief Operating Officer. "Their five-year commitment to raise $50,000 annually is truly outstanding, and it demonstrates their determination and devotion to our community hospital." "There are close to 150 volunteers at the hospital, and there's always room for more," says Janice Cowen. "This is a great opportunity to really become part of a dynamic group of volunteers who really do make a difference in the community." The GHVA is currently recruiting volunteers for the Gift Shop and Coffee Kiosk, Diagnostic Imaging, Complex Continuing Care and Worship Service.
