Long-lasting metal By ANDREA LEFEBVRE Advertising Features Writer A new roofing trend is sweeping the nation. More and more homeowners are turning to metal roofs as an energy-efficient and long-lasting alternative to traditional asphalt shingles. "We like to say it's the last roof you'll ever need," says Jim Pushie, the owner of Vantage Roofing. "Once that metal roof goes on, it's maintenancefree." Vantage Roofing sells and installs residential metal roofing from well-known manufacturer Edco's Arrowline product line. Metal roofing is a good investment for your home, Pushie says. Although more costly than asphalt shingles, metal roofs pay for themselves in the long run. In addition to adding equity to your home, Edco's products are Energy Star rated, which means they save you money on utilities by keeping the cold out and the heat in during the winter and vice versa in the summer. Metal roofing is also fire resistant, which makes your home insurance rates go down. Perhaps the most important feature is the longevity of metal roofing. While the average asphalt roof lasts about eight to 10 years, an Edco metal roof has a 50-year, transferable, non-prorated warranty. As for Vantage Roofing, the company provides free estimates during a no-pressure in-home sales call. The company offers low prices by cutting out the middleman and delivering the roofing products directly from the manufacturer to the client's home. Within three weeks, Vantage Roofing can have a sales person visit, have the supplies dropped off and have installation completed. "What I like about my job is that when I tell somebody something is going to happen in three weeks, we do it in three weeks," Pushie says. "That is very important to us." Jim Pushie, the owner of Vantage Roofing, shows off a few samples of the metal roofing his firm has for sale.
