...& Art Competition winners The MYAC Art Competition is an opportunity for youth to showcase their artistic talents. This year there were over 45 art submissions from students. The junior category included submissions completed by individuals in Grades 7-9 and the senior category were Grade 10-12 students. In each of the two categories award winners were selected by the Mayor, MYAC members, and local artist Carole Warfield, director of Georgetown Art Express. These four individuals have been nominated for their involvement and dedication to the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Halton's Homework Club. The Homework Club is an after-school mentoring program for at risk children in Grades 3 to 8 in schools within Halton Region. Youth are matched one-on-one with students on a weekly basis to help them through academic and social needs. These youth have demonstrated that they are positive role models to the students and they exhibit their commitment, responsibility, patience and creativity on a weekly basis. 907-877-2273 Tessa Jones and Cameron Elgie These two recipients are students at Georgetown District High School and have been nominated for their community involvement. Both individuals are members of the high school swim team and are active in both their school and the Halton Hills community. Academically these two individuals have proven to excel and they have also contributed to their communities through volunteering with local organizations, the special needs community and their schools.
