Since October 2009 we have had a collection of electronic books, or eBooks, available for all of our library card-holders to borrow, just like you would borrow regular books. EBooks are certainly taking the publishing industry by storm. Just this past February, the American Publishing Association reported that eBooks have begun to outsell paperback books in the United States. But, if you have never read an eBook before, getting started can be a bit of a challenge-- you can't just walk into your local library and grab one off the shelf. So, if you have never read an eBook before, how do you go about trying them out? The Halton Hills Public Library would like to help. Starting this month, you can borrow an eReader just as you would borrow a regular book. Each eReader is preloaded with 21 bestselling and newly-released eBook titles. You don't need anything else, not even a computer. You can request an eReader by searching our library catalogue (keyword = ereader) and placing a hold, or you can contact us at 905-873-2681 or 905-853-0301 and we will place the hold for you.
