According to Halton Police, the westbound Jetta was turning south onto Thompson Road when it collided with the eastbound truck. Steeles Avenue was closed in both directions for more than five hours for the police investigation. The youth was originally reported to have suffered life-threatening injuries however, he is recovering well and is expected to be released from hospital soon. The 61-year-old Milton driver of the cement truck was not injured. Police investigators are appealing for witnesses to contact them at 905878-5511 ext. 5142 or 5056. The nomination meeting will take place on Thursday, August 11 at 7:30 p.m. at the Rockwood Library, 85 Christie St., Rockwood. "Moya has a strong and proven record of community service and is a powerful advocate for Wellington-Halton Hills," said Murray Gold, President of the WellingtonHalton Hills PLA. "We're very pleased to have such a strong candidate." Johnson said she did a lot of thinking about whether she would accept the candidacy when approached but decided, "I would do it for my community. I believe, just as when I ran for council, complaining doesn't do any good, you must act."
