Tuesday, August 16, 2011 BACK TO SCHOOL The Independent & Free Press special pullout section 8 Pages HHGC springs back into Fall Halton Hills Gymnastics Centre (HHGC) is springing back into action. The club is introducing a variety of new programs for the coming season. Whether you are a dancer interested in strengthening your tumbling skills, a youngster curious about gymnastics, a parent keen to develop your child's physical strength and self-esteem or a thrill seeker looking to master the trampoline, HHGC is the place you want to be. Gymnastics is often referred to as `the foundation sport' as it contributes to so many areas of physical, psychological and emotional elements. It builds self confidence and discipline; promotes teamwork; nurtures an appreciation for body movement, awareness and control; and develops flexibility, power, strength and endurance. At HHGC, top-notch national and international coaches are eager to work with gymnasts of all ages to develop these skills. Most boys and girls start with little to no experience and quickly master skills as they work through the club's programs. HHGC is family-oriented with a variety of classes for all ages. Starting with beginner classes for toddlers 18 months of age, with recreational and competitive streams for teens up to 18 years old. As a non-profit organization focused on community-minded initiatives, HHGC supports the Canadian Tire Jumpstart program that provides funds to lower-income youngsters enabling them the opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities.
