Police blotter 7 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday, September 27, 2011 Woman fights off attacker Halton Police are appealing to the public for information about an attack on a woman at Steeles Ave. and Fifth Line early Sunday morning. Police say the woman was walking on the south side of Steeles Ave. just east of Fifth Line about 1 a.m. when she was approached from behind and knocked to the ground by an unknown male. She was able to fight off the male and he subsequently fled on foot in a southwestern direction through a field. Halton Police responded with the canine unit and searched the area, but did not find the suspect. He is described as having a dark complexion (possibly Hispanic), 5'11", 170 lbs., shaved head, and was wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt. He may have received facial injuries during the attack. A screen in a window was forced to gain entry. ··· A 2002 Chevrolet Silverado was stolen from the parking lot at Sobeys in Acton sometime between 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. Friday. The vehicle is valued at $10,000. ··· A set of Callaway golf clubs valued at $3,500 and $1,000 in other items, including a golf bag, range finder and jacket, were stolen from a vehicle parked at a Turtle Lake Dr. residence late Friday or early Saturday. ··· A 2004 Split-Fire log splitter valued at $5,500 was stolen from a Dublin Line, Acton residence between Tuesday and Friday. ··· A Toronto man was charged with mischief after a backhoe was spray-painted with graffiti about 1:30 a.m. Sunday. Charged is Luis Alejandro Correa-Rucci, 46. ··· Approximately $6,000 worth of damage was caused to a vacant building on Guelph St. when graffiti was spray-painted on the roof and front of the building sometime between Friday (Sept. 16) and Tuesday (Sept. 20). ··· Police were called about 1 a.m. Friday after receiving a complaint about an erratic driver on Regional Rd. 25. Police responded and stopped the vehicle in the Fourth Line/Glen Lawson Rd. area. Charged with impaired driving and having over 80 mg of alcohol in 100 ml of blood is Andrew Linnen, 36, of Hanover. ··· A Georgetown man was charged after police responded to a complaint from a citizen about a vehicle in the parking lot at the LCBO on Mountainview Rd. about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. The 43-year-old male employee suffered multiple stab wounds and lacerations to his abdomen from what police are calling an "edged weapon." After undergoing eight hours of emergency surgery he was initially reported in critical but stable condition.
