Georgetown Seniors are swinging By FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre Life just keeps getting busier at your Centre. The Café is in full swing now and has resumed serving sandwiches on Tuesdays and on Thursdays, you can get a bowl of hot soup served with crackers. Stop by for lunch. If we want these things to continue we will need more volunteers to join the Social Committee. If you can offer some time please let Myra or Alice know. Join the group who meet on Tuesdays at 1 p.m. to play Rummikub and other assorted board games. On Thursdays at 1 p.m. they are now playing shuffleboard. Another reminder of the Justus concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16 at the Georgetown Alliance Church. Tickets are $15 (a fundraiser for the Centre) and are available from the Centre. Drop by and see our booth at the Community Open House at the mall on Oct. 15. We will have tickets for sale there as well. Light refreshments will be served following the performance and all proceeds go to support your Centre. Tickets for the Alia/Tan Jay Fashion Show on Oct. 31 are going well. Drop in and pick yours up before they are all gone. There will be no tickets available at the door the day of the show. Door prizes and refreshments and 50/50 draw. Check the reception desk for information regarding a fourweek lecture series, The Science of Healthy Aging, Your Health in the Golden Years. Date for the series will be determined if sufficient interest is shown. Brigitte Schreyer, a well known artist and art teacher will be presenting a watercolour workshop at the Centre on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost is $45 for members and $50 for non-members. Register soon as there is limited space. Volunteer signup sheets for various tasks at the Christmas Bazaar on Nov. 19 are available at the reception desk. Monday, Oct. 24 you can roll up your sleeve to receive your annual flu shot at the Centre between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
