Georgetown Seniors Centre had great turnout to Justus fundraising concert By FLORENCE RIEHL Georgetown Seniors Centre It takes numerous people to make an event a success as surely was the Justus concert on Sunday, October 16. Their beautiful voices covered a wide range of popular music and without a doubt the concert was too soon over. Among all those people to be thanked is the Alliance Church for letting the Centre use their church for the concert venue, the ticket sellers, the Social Committee for looking after the refreshments and to Chartwell Classics of Oakville for supplying all the wonderful sweets. And last, but not least, a thank you to all those who came out on a dull dreary Sunday to enjoy this concert. *** It was great to see so many of you stop by our booth at the Community Fair at the Mall on Saturday. Always a pleasure to show off all the activities that are part of our Centre's life. *** On Monday, October 24, there is a free flu shot clinic at the Centre running from 10 a.m. till 1 p.m. Take a minute to drop by and get your protection from the nasty flu bug. *** There are still a few tickets left for the 21 Independent & Free Press, Thursday, October 20, 2011 Alia Tan/Jay Fashion Show on Monday, October 31 beginning at 1 p.m. Besides all the wonderful new fashions on display, there will be draws, refreshments and 50/50 tickets. Because seating is limited there will be no tickets available at the door. *** Saturday, Nov. 19 is the date of our annual Christmas Bazaar. Lots of goodies are needed for the bake table. Signup sheets for various tasks associated with the bazaar are at Reception. Take a minute and see where you can help. *** Due to numerous requests we are once more having Mysteriously Yours, from Toronto, come to the Centre for another Murder/Mystery Dinner on Saturday, January 21. Dinner will be catered by Bruce Cunnington. Cocktails at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m. It is now already over half sold out! For further information call 905-873-1210. See you at the Centre Justus, members of the Streetsville music corp, performed an entertaining diverse repertoire of music for 150 guests at the Georgetown Alliance Church on Sunday. This concert raised $2,100 for the Georgetown Seniors Centre through the partnership of the Georgetown Alliance church with the donation of their beautiful venue and Oakville Chartwell Classic Retirement Village for their sponsorship of all the refreshments. As the saying goes many hands make light work and with all the many volunteers, young and old, this fundraiser was quite a success.
