Following assemblies with speakers and various acts of remembrance, all students and teachers will march past the newly-completed Wall of Remembrance, and, with an honour guard from the Lorne Scots overseeing the display, will place their poppies on the wreath, to symbolize they are remembering those who died in the wars. The Wall of Remembrance, and Remembrance Day at GDHS, is the culmination of a project where a number of people who felt that it was time to properly recognize former students and teachers who placed themselves in harm's way, and doing so, gave the supreme sacrifice in the pursuit of freedom. For decades there had been a pair of bronze plaques in the display cases at Georgetown District High School, with 22 names on them.
