4 Remembrance Day, GEORGETOWN & ACTON · Tuesday, November 8, 2011 MICHAEL Researching soldiers a `challenge' Continued from pg. 3 connected today's GDHS students with the past. We have lots of history, and this helps remind us all." "I felt it was great that as Grade 11 students, we were given the responsibility and respect to do this project," said Wayne Fang. "At first it was quite a challenge, but we were able to find out more and more the deeper we dug. The plaques are great, and being on display makes Remembrance Day an allyear event." Adam Vanderleest agreed. "It was definitely a challenge when we started, trying to find the info for the plaques," said Vanderleest. "But once we got started and found new sources, it really became quite an enjoyable project. We all really got into it, and as a result, have created something that really needed to be done." Although all the plaque mounts are going to be on display, Keast has made provisions to be able to update, in the event more info comes in regarding any of the names on the wall. All of the plaques are mounted with velcro, so they can come down and be replaced with additional info. "There's still the occasional person sending in more info and I know we will be able to update anything that is on the wall," said Keast. "This school is loaded with history of its 125 years, and this project is just the start of recognizing it."
