12 Independent & Free Press,Thursday, November 10, 2011 ! g a J g a W e h DoT Rocks on fire among the items on sale at the AHS Craft Sale By PATRICIA RESCH Special to the IFP For 16 years, Acton District High School in Halton Hills has been hosting the Acton Craft Sale for their fundraising project. This year the event is held on Saturday (Nov. 12), 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Acton High School, 21 Cedar Rd. What do we fundraise for? All the wonderful teaching and technologically fun things: smart boards, drama lights, computer updates, monitors for the front halls of the school broadcasting the daily events, musical instruments and the list goes on and on. This year, the kids are calling the shots. Miss Pita's Grade 10 Business Class has been busy planning by calling vendors, confirming table rentals, organizing table assignments and competing in a class advertising ad to promote the sale. This winning advertisement was the work of Crackerjack, one of the groups in the business class. The Craft Sale itself has become a tradition in Halton Hills. The vendors may change from year to year. New ideas are added, and some discarded as the changing times seems to direct the trends. This year we have awesome vendors: metal works, jewelry, woodworks, sewing, quilting, knitting and crocheting, glassworks, rocks that are on fire, homecrafted cards, stain glass and even your name painted on a piece of rice. We have chocolate and bath bombs shaped like yummy cupcakes, wooden platters that are the most amazing look-a-likes from your photos, towels, baskets, deers made from trees, children's clothes, body lotions. We have a little bit of everything, then when your feet can take no more, sit and have a yummy lunch donated by the Athletic team families. We will also have fantastic face art created by Tania Cook, an amazing artist herself. The school band will be on hand selling their yummy bake goods to raise money for their upcoming trip in the spring. The jolly old elf himself, Santa will be visiting the children, young and old, and offering photo ops for a small cost.
