Sheridan organizers, (from left) Victoria Monachino, Haley Scarlett, Steph Aoun, Phil Price, Cara Galloway and Sandra Kantor donned face fuzz for the event in which participants received a burger, beer and baked goods at the Inn. A number of prizes were also auctioned off with proceeds going to the cause. (Below) Jim Clarke of Georgetown chows down on a juicy burger. Photos by Calvin Dyke Seniors rally for new centres By CYNTHIA GAMBLE Staff Writer When Halton Hills seniors opened up their Independent & Free Press last Tuesday, they got a rude shock-- the inclusion of their seniors centres in the Town's 2013-2021 Capital Forecast had been removed due to lack of funding. Monday night the Civic Centre public gallery was overflowing with seniors as the executives of both the Georgetown and Acton Seniors Centres protested the exclusion before council ratified the 2012 Capital Budget and Capital Forecast. "The news that these projects have been removed from the forecast is a major setback and a real disappointment," Georgetown Seniors Centre president Rick Chambers told council. `We understand the financial restraints that council faces," added Acton Seniors Centre president Bev Jones, "but a seniors centre is a major component of the community." When Halton Hills seniors walked away from the special council meeting held at Christ the King School last February approving the three-arena project, they had understood that council also directed staff to place plans for their centres into the Capital Forecast.
