Arnott launches petition opposed to 4-3 option Wellington-Halton Hills MPP Ted Arnott has announced a petition is being launched to give area residents another opportunity to express opposition to Alternative 4-3. The Liberal government initiated the GTA West Corridor Study, which identified Alternative 4-3 as a possible route for a new provincial highway. The proposed east-west route would cut through agricultural land south of 10 Sideroad in Halton Hills, from Tenth Line, connecting with Hwy. 401 at Tremaine Rd. in Milton. Town of Halton Hills and the Region of Halton councils have expressed concerns, area residents have spoken out, and the matter has been raised in the Ontario Legislature by Arnott. Arnott said he is committed to presenting the petitions in the Ontario Legislature. The petition will soon be posted online at www.tedarnottmpp.com, so that interested people can download it and obtain signatures. "The rules of the Legislature require that petitions follow a specific format and contain original signatures, not photocopied signatures," Arnott said. "I hope that the people who are opposed to Alternative 4-3 will avail themselves of this opportunity." 5 Independent & Free Press, Tuesday, December 6, 2011 Bring Extra Warmth to this Holiday Season Help Cram-A-Cruiser Halton Regional Police 11 Division Georgetown officers will be at the Real Canadian Superstore Saturday (Dec. 10) for Cram-A-Cruiser. BOX OF FLORIDA Seedless Navel Oranges or FLORIDA Ruby Red Grapefruit Study shows local drivers improving Allstate Insurance Company of Canada's latest Ontario Safe Driving Study shows Ontario-- and Georgetown-- drivers have improved over the past two years. Overall, Ontario's collision frequency rate had a seven per cent decrease between 2007-2009 and 2009-2011. Georgetown experienced the seventh largest decrease in collisions with a 19.1 per cent decline and ranks eighth among the 45 communities studied with a collision claims rate of 3.81 per 100 cars. Milton had the largest decrease of 27.3 per cent and ranks 27th overall. According to the data, Brockville had the lowest collision rate, while five GTA communities-- Brampton (45th), Thornhill, Toronto, Markham and Bolton-- had the highest collision rates in the province. The Ontario Safe Driving Study looks at collision frequencies in 45 communities in the province and ranks them based on Allstate Canada claims data for 2009-2011 and also compares them to data from 2007-2009. Allstate Canada calculates the Ontario Safe Driving collision frequency rates by dividing the number of claims made with Allstate Canada within a community by the number of cars insured by Allstate Canada in that community. Only communities where Allstate Canada insures a minimum of 900 cars between 2009 and 2011 are ranked. Collisions are linked to the address of the insured, not where the collision took place. Rankings are based solely on Allstate Canada's car collision frequency data and are in no way tied to insurance rates.
