Canadian composer to attend GCS's Candlelight Christmas concert The Georgetown Choral Society is closing off its year-long 40th anniversary celebration with a Candlelight Christmas concert on Saturday, December 10 at 8 p.m. in the Georgetown Christian Reformed Church on Trafalgar Rd. As part of this concert, the choir is thrilled to present a contemporary work Gloria by talented young Canadian composer Andrew Gilpin, who will be in attendance. His composition is a setting for choir with soprano soloist and piano of the traditional Christian mass. With the use of appealing melodies and contemporary rhythms, this work brings a fresh approach to age-old words. Come and meet this exciting young composer who writes in many styles including choral music, jazz, classical, New Age and ragtime.
