Halton Hills HIGH LOW FRI. 00 -50 Scattered Flurries SAT. -20 -70 SUN. 10 -30 Fond farewell from Tachmen The final act of the Tachmen Car Club before ceasing activities was to present a $50,000 cheque to the Georgetown Hospital Foundation. Arriving in Georgetown in 1966 after over 20 years in Brampton, club members shared their expertise and tools in automotive restoration and complete car-build projects, while also supporting various community organizations. The club was based on the Eighth Line for decades until a new housing development forced the demolition of the Tachmen's building in 2007, so the organization of about 35 auto enthusiasts recently decided to disband. Using the balance of funds saved from membership dues, the club's board of directors chose to support the foundation and the new staff room in the renovated hospital will bear the Tachmen's name. Here, club president Don McQueen (front left) presents Paul Armstrong, Shelley Phipps and John Lewis of the Hospital Foundation's board of directors with the cheque. Front right: Tachmen Ken Rockwell, John Pantarini. Back row: Club members Larry Cox, Richard MacArthur, Jim MacArthur, Dieter Bauer, Glenn Sterritt, Donald Kee. The club also wanted to acknowledge the late Klaus Botz as one of its 10 directors.
