Photo submitted Knitters to `blanket Halton' this Christmas Customers and friends of Georgetown Yarn and Crafts kept their fingers busy knitting and crocheting squares year round for the store's Let's Blanket Halton program. As a result, Georgetown Yarn and Crafts is able to donate over 120 blankets this year to three local agencies-- Georgetown Salvation Army, Links2Care and Halton Women's Place. Since starting Let's Blanket Halton, more than 1,650 blankets have been donated. The program also donates any hand-knit mitts and hats that are also dropped off at the shop. If you are interested in being part of this project, please call 905-877-1521 or email knitting@cogeco.ca. The program always needs lots of donated yarn, people to make the squares and people to put the blankets together. Georgetown Yarn and Crafts at 170 Guelph St. is program central, where they give out the donated yarn and a free pattern so crafters can have fun knitting and crocheting for a worthy cause.
