Norval celebrated author Lucy Maud Montgomery, who lived in the village from 1926 to 1935, on November 26 during Montgomery Christmas. The celebrations started in the morning when St. Paul's Anglican Church, Norval Presbyterian Church and Norval United Church hosted old-fashioned bazaars, luncheons and tearooms. The day continued at the Montgomery Museum at Crawford's Village Bake Shop, where the original Montgomery cookbook was on display. Things got a little hairy at the Main Street Inn on November 26. Men, women and children donned their best cookie-dusters, soup-strainers and handlebar `staches for a Movember Burger and Beer Fundraiser, hosted by a group of Sheridan College students. The event marked the end of Movember, a monthlong moustache-growing extravaganza that raises funds and awareness for men's health issues, particularly prostate cancer. Dozens of people enjoyed burgers and beer at the Main Street Inn while participating in raffles and a silent auction. By the end of the afternoon, the students raised $1,900 for the Movember cause.
