School councils to host expert on `Raising Kids' Children and teenagers are living in a social environment very different from the one their parents and teachers grew up in. What are the new rules? Do any of the old rules still apply? This free event will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 7-9 p.m. at the Georgetown District High School theatre, 70 Guelph St. It features guest speaker, Michael Reist, a teacher with over 30 years of experience in the classroom. He is a frequent speaker to local parent groups and education conferences. He is currently head of the English Department at Robert F. Hall Catholic Secondary School in Caledon East. Reist is the author of Raising Boys In A New Kind Of World. His first book was entitled The Dysfunctional School: Uncomfortable Truths and Awkward Insights on School, Learning and Teaching. He has published over 70 articles on topics ranging from education, spirituality and parenting to movies, books and popular culture.
