Volunteers wanted for upcoming CAShh and Cancer Society campaigns A sure sign of Spring-- the symbol of hope and renewal-- are the local CAShh and Cancer Society campaigns in April. Both campaigns are seeking campaign volunteers for neighbourhood canvassing and/or selling daffodils. CAShh (Cancer Assistance Services of Halton Hills) raises money to provide direct support to cancer victims in the community. CAShh provides transportation or will reimburse for parking expenses when a family member does the driving. It offers food supplements to withstand weight loss, relaxation programs to regain strength, balance and energy, wigs, night hats, pretty scarves, special pillows for those in treatment, some equipment loans or help in the home when needed. Canvassers are wanted to go door-todoor in their neighbourhoods to ask for the essential donations to keep this vital service open. If you can help contact CAShh campaign manager Betty Fendley, at the CAShh office, 905-702-8886 or go to www.cancerassistance.org. *** The Canadian Cancer Society raises funds for vital research and support to patients. The Acton branch of the Canadian Cancer Society is also looking for volunteers for its Spring campaign. It kicks off the campaign with an information night on Wednesday, March 28 with special speaker, Nelson Ho, University of Guelph researcher. All volunteers and general public are invited, 7 p.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, in Acton. Coffee, tea and desserts provided. Come and hear about the latest breakthroughs being found in the continuing effort to eradicate cancer. Daffodil sales will begin on March 29 at Sobeys, and a Step into Spring Fashion Show will be held on April 16. To help out this branch call campaign coordinator Cathy Gerrow, 519-853-1424. *** The Canadian Cancer Society representing Georgetown still urgently needs volunteers to sell daffodil pins at various locations across Georgetown over two weekends, Saturday, March 31 and Sunday, April 1 and Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15. Shifts are four hours long; students can get community service hours. If you can help, please call Lovey at 1-866-711-0111 ext. 3829, or e-mail at lsidhu@ontario.cancer.ca 15 The IFP · Halton Hills, Thursday, March 8, 2012 FREE Your Dream Day Bridal Show comes to Orangeville!!
