March Break tradition: Teen-led 30 Hour Famine More than 50 students will be engaging in global issues at a World Vision 30 Hour Famine event tomorrow (Wednesday). Students will start the 30 Hour Famine individually on today (Tuesday) at 4 p.m., and will finish the 30 Hour Famine together, Wednesday, 11:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. at Georgetown Alliance Church, 290 Main St. S. This action-packed day will feature games, art, music, a graffiti artist, a dodge ball tournament and more. The event is expected to raise $3,000 to fight child poverty through World Vision's long-term development programs. "Year after year we've seen Georgetown teens step up to fight child poverty through the 30 Hour Famine. This year is no exception-- with youth across Georgetown coming together to make a difference during their March Break," Yvette Brettell, World Vision Canada. The World Vision 30 Hour Famine is the world's biggest anti-poverty youth fundraiser, with more than 60,000 Canadians and more than 500,000 students around the world going hungry to take a bite out of child poverty. Irish Bash: at St. Andrew's United Church. Dinner begins at 6 p.m. with homemade beef stew, Irish soda bread, coleslaw, dessert and tea or coffee. Following dinner a Celtic Fiddle Band (flute, guitar, fiddle), under the direction of James Fanchuk is all set to provide some of your favourite Irish tunes. Sing along, dance an Irish jig or just sit back and reminisce. Dig out your green duds and come for a night of good food, good music and good company.
