12 The IFP · Halton Hills, Thursday, March 22, 2012 NOTICE OF COMMENCEMENT AND PUBLIC OPEN HOUSES PROPOSED UPGRADE OF THE NATURAL GAS DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM IN THE GTA The Study Enbridge Gas Distribution Inc. (Enbridge) has retained Dillon Consulting Limited (Dillon) to undertake an environmental assessment and route selection study for two currently proposed 36-inch (915 mm) high pressure natural gas distribution pipelines and associated facilities in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). This project is being proposed to upgrade the backbone of Enbridge's natural gas distribution system to serve growth in the GTA. The project has been divided into two proposed segments for which environmental data has been collected and alternative routes have been considered. Based on the information collected, a Preliminary Preferred Route (PPR) for each segment has been identified. The maps below illustrate the alternative route and PPR for each segment. For both segments, the majority of the PPR is within an existing designated utility corridor called the Parkway Belt which is located immediately south of Highway 407. Once the study is complete, Enbridge may apply to the Ontario Energy Board for approval to construct the project. If approved, construction is proposed for 2014 and 2015.
