A Halton Police spokesperson said the girl, whose name was not released, is doing well and expected to make a full recovery. Shortly after 5 p.m. the girl was hit by a pickup truck on Kingham Rd., west of Main St. S. (Regional Rd 25). This is a busy road with two condominium complexes on either side. Preliminary indications are that the child ran out from between two parked cars on the south side of the roadway and into the path of a westbound pickup truck. The driver, whose name also wasn't released, attempted to stop but was unable to avoid the collision. The child was knocked to the ground and sustained serious internal injuries. The male driver and his passenger gave immediate assistance to the girl. Halton EMS rushed the girl to Georgetown Hospital where she was stabilized and assessed. Adam Thompson, who disappeared from his Belmont Blvd. home about 10:30 p.m. Sunday after a "minor family disagreement" was found by a CN rail worker on the tracks near Heritage Rd. and Bovaird Dr. in Brampton about 3:50 p.m. Halton Police Sgt. Dave Cross said given Adam's condition he may have taken the disagreement to heart more than the average 14-year-old. Cross said Adam is in good condition and at press time was enroute to his home to be reunited with his family. He said the boy would be checked by a doctor given "the amount of exposure he's had in the last few hours." Police had been searching in the Eighth Line/15 Sideroad area since Adam went missing Sunday. "It was quite a coordinated effort, we had numerous uniform officers, along with citizen volunteers, our own auxiliary officers, our emergency services unit and Peel Regional Police along the way once we had the indication he may have been at a Petro Canada in their area," said Cross. Cross said police did receive some calls from people who believed they had spotted Adam, but no sightings had been confirmed.
