Acton child on bike collides with car For the third time in the past several weeks a child has been involved in a collision in Acton. Halton Police report a 12-year-old boy on a bicycle rode into the side of a vehicle at Mill St. E. and Wallace St. in Acton about 8:55 a.m. Thursday. Police say the driver of the vehicle was stopped at the intersection and proceeded with a right hand turn when the cyclist who was riding on the sidewalk and had no brakes on his bike, struck the car. Police say the cyclist was not seriously injured and suffered a scraped shin. The incident was a case of rider error say police and no charges will be laid. On April 12, an Acton girl was injured when she ran out from between two parked cars on Kingham Rd. and was hit by a pickup truck. On April 10, a kindergarten student was struck by a vehicle as she crossed Acton Blvd. outside of McKenzie-Smith Bennett School. The girl was knocked down but wasn't injured. London Police have charged Zach Langlois, 20, of Georgetown with two counts of mischief. The riot on Fleming Dr. near Fanshawe College March 17 resulted in about $100,000 damage, including damage to police vehicles and equipment. Overall, police have laid 85 criminal charges and 18 of the suspects were Fanshawe College students at the time of the incident. Police blotter: Vehicle and home break-ins Police are investigating several thefts from vehicles late Sunday or early Monday in Georgetown including one on Arbor Glen Cr. where a $200 pair of Maui Jim sunglasses were taken. A Blackberry, charger and sunglasses were taken from another unlocked vehicle on that street. During the same time period, change and a GPS were taken from a vehicle on Grist Mill Dr. Also, the driver's side window was smashed in a vehicle parked at a Queen St., Georgetown residence sometime between 2 and 6:45 a.m. Monday. Nothing was taken. *** Police are investigating a break and enter into a Curry Cr. home sometime April 16. Entry was gained through a rear basement window.
