Acton Legion membership honoured with service pins By SHARON A. GRAHAM Acton Legion news On behalf of the branch we would like to thank the BBQ crew for cooking last Friday evening. It was too bad that the weather was just not nice but we sure needed the rain. We were also entertained by the Par 3 Show Band and what a show they put on for us. The dance floor was very busy and the jokes and laughter were so much fun. Last Friday was our Honours and Awards Ceremony for members getting their service pins They are M. Davis 45, J. T. Jordan 30, Robin Rivers 30, William Rivers 30, Colleen A. Tobin 30, Karen Smith 25. These were years of service at the branch. Congratulations to you all. There were two special 70 years of women in the military pins given to Ron McKnight on behalf of his mother, Joan and to Phyllis Bunn who were both veterans. Another gift was given to Father Bob, our padre who is leaving Acton June 27 to go to St. Clements. We will truly miss you. Remember to mark your calendar for June 15, 7-11 p.m. when we will have the Brown's Garage band on the patio or if it is raining it will be in the games room. On June 23rd we will be hosting our district shoes. Why not come out and cheer on our team? There will also be entertainment again on the patio or in the games room with Cosmic Warehouse from 5-10 p.m. Many thanks to all who came out to plant the geraniums at the cemetery during Decoration Day on Sunday.
