Bike giveaway to be held Saturday A program that was launched two years ago by Georgetown youth Hayden Downes-Mills after his bike was stolen has put 230 free bikes in the hands of area residents who wanted a bike but couldn't afford one. Through Hayden't Re-Bicycling Program, Hayden, his family and volunteers fix up donated bikes then give them away to those who need them. And this Saturday (June 16) from 8 a.m. to noon the program will be hosting another bike giveaway at 2 Cleaveholm Dr. (corner of Henry St. and Cleaveholm). There will be 35 bikes (adults and youth) available for free to anyone who wants one. It's wise to get there early as it's first come, first served. People are encouraged to bring a donation for the Georgetown Bread Basket. Items for kids are most needed including cereal, lunch snacks and juice boxes. There will also be a bake sale with the money raised going for the purchase of helmets and training wheels to go with the bikes, and tools for repairing bikes. People are also welcome to drop off bikes they want to donate. The program has grown dramatically since Hayden started it and it's become a 11 ·The IFP· Halton Hills, Thursday, June 14, 2012 Hayden Downes-Mills is joined by Bert Leferink of Leferink Transfer, who has donated more than 80 bikes to Hayden's ReBicycling program.
