Police had been alerted to a possible impaired driver after a citizen reported a vehicle weaving all over the road. They stopped a 2003 Pontiac Vibe and determined the driver had been drinking. Domestic charge A 41-year-old Erin Township man was charged with assault after a distraught woman phoned police on New Year's Eve to report that her husband had repeatedly assaulted her throughout the day. The 40-year-old victim did not need medical treatment. The husband appears in Guelph court February 7. False ID A 24-year-old Orangeville man, who gave police a false identity when he was pulled over on Main Street in Erin at 10:17 p.m. on December 29, was charged with Obstruct Police, Personation, Drive While Under Suspension and Fail to Surrender a Permit for a Motor Vehicle. The man told OPP he did not have his identification with him and verbally identified himself, but police determined he was driving while suspended. He appears in Guelph court on February 12.
