Drunk driving continues to be a problem in Halton Eight drivers in District One ­ Acton, Georgetown and Milton ­ were charged with impaired driving during the Halton police holiday R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program. One of the arrested was also charged with having over 80-milligrams of alcohol in 100-millilitres of blood. Last year, 12 drivers in One District were charged with over 80 and impaired driving during the December anti-drinking and driving campaign. Region-wide, Halton police stopped 17,396 vehicles, administered 564 roadside breath tests and made 37 impaired driving offences during the RIDE campaign.
