Let it snow, please E v en if ther e is no snow on January 29, organizers of Acton's Winter Carnival won't let that spoil the fun a lot of the activities planned for the free family fun day in Prospect Park can be held, with or without the white stuff, according to Acton BIA (Business Improvement Area) manager Josey Bonnette. On Friday, Town staff laid down the base for a huge outdoor skating rink on a ball diamond in the Park, and will continue to groom it for the rest of the winter. For the Carnival, it will be used for a hockey tournament and public skating. The Carnival runs from 9 to 5 p.m., with many events beginning at 11 a.m. The schedules includes Bingo in the Boathouse, a snowman building competition, snow golf including pitching and putting events, buildable ice blocks, snow baseball and an obstacle course built by Acton Scouts. "We're holding a chilli cook-off at the Roxy people should bring four litres of chili in a crock-pot or self-heating container," Bonnette said on Friday, adding the chili will be sold and served after the judging between 4:30 and 5 p.m. The winners of the BIA's photo contest there are 31 entries of Acton winter scenes will be selected at the Roxy. Bonnette said they hope to recover some of the $1,500 cost of the event through the sale of $2 Carnival buttons, now on sale at downtown businesses.
