Acton Seniors Centre hosts final Social Dinner tonight before summer 11 ·The IFP· Halton Hills, Thursday, June 28, 2012 By JULIE CONROY Acton Seniors Centre The Acton Seniors Centre will be closed on Monday, July 2 to celebrate Canada Day. It will re-open on Tuesday morning at 9 a.m. Twenty-one members and their guests enjoyed celebrating their birthdays that occur in June and July at the Birthday Tea on June 18. Sydney and Rachel Durham, the daughters of our Administrative Assistant Michelle Durham, entertained us with their dancing. Both girls have won numerous awards for their dancing. Members of the public were welcomed by the school and members of its volunteer leadership classes to take part in a number of activities and the weather cooperated nicely. On the menu are ribs and wings and roasted potatoes, followed by a surprise dessert. Juke Box will be entertaining us, so bring your dancing shoes. I was away for a few days, so missed the trip to Mohawk. I understand it went well, and several people came home a little richer after visiting the slots. I was told the prime rib was delicious, and the selection of food and desserts excellent as usual. We will be returning on September 24. The Hikers will be having their final hike on Friday, June 29. They usually finish with a picnic, but this year decided to have the picnic a week earlier. The dart players have played their final games and darts and hiking will re-start in Sept. At Thursday afternoon's Bid Euchre Frances Hogenbirk had the only mooner. The Bingo was well attended and we hope to hold another in either August or September. Watch this column for details at a later date. I did not report on last week's 50/50. It was not won so $213.75 was carried forward and Anna Arnold won this week. She received $279.75.
