First the Tanners hosted the Flamborough Sabres, and came out on the short end of a 3-1 decision. Michael Holmes scored an unassisted marker, which was the only goal for Acton. The Tanners had to regroup and head to Milton to face off against the Winterhawks. Jon Bydevaate opened the scoring in the first period with a shot from the point which was set up by Declan Harrison and Caleb Downs. Before the first period ended, with a face off deep in the Milton zone, Daniel Nascimento won the draw to Dylan Palmer, who fed a pass to Chase Thomas, who then made no mistake and hit the back of the Milton net to put the Tanner's u p 2 -0 . E arl y i n t h e second period, the puck was swirling around the Winterhawks net when Holmes banged home another goal, Nic Jones and Hunter McCauley earned assists on the play. Mid way through the third period, Palmer tipped in a Thomas shot to put the Tanners up 4-0, Ryan McAskill also picked up a point on the goal. Mathew Adkins then did the rest of the work, and made some amazing saves to hold on to the shutout and a 4-0 victory. The Tanners head to Caledon this week to continue their Tri-county playoffs. Jackson Phillips' hat trick led the way for the Chudleigh's Acton Tanners Novice BB team in their 7-1 win over the Schomberg Red Wings. The seventh straight playoff victory for Acton in the OMHA Central's twelve game opening round robin, coupled with a loss for the Guelph Jr. Storm earlier in the day, clinched a berth for the Tanners in the OMHA championship final. After Phillips potted two early goals for Acton, he then fired a pass to Jaret Rosenburg who directed it top shelf to give the Tanners a 3-0 lead after one period. Jared Pike also assisted on an earlier Philips goal. Philips then scored his third off a setup from Owen Kennedy before Riley Drexler wristed one past the goalie with Matthew Geim assisting to make it 5-0 after two. In the third, Geim and Kennedy worked the puck to the front and Drexler banged in this second of the game. Shortly after, Acton got into some penalty trouble in the third and the Red Wings managed to score but Evan Ashe sealed the win when he caught the Wings goalie off guard during a face off in Schomberg's zone and slid one through the goalie's legs right off the draw. To close out the opening round robin, Acton will host Guelph on Friday at 7:45 p.m., at Mold Masters Arena in Georgetown and will host Erin-Hillsburgh on Saturday at 4:30 p.m., in Acton. Less than a minute into the third, Brampton tied the game, and then scored two quick goals for a 6-4 win.
